K-Drama Reaction: Wok of Love | Episodes 29-30

The cat is out of the bag! We spent the entire hour watching Poong (Junho) immaturely scolding Sae-woo (Jung Ryeo-won), Seol-ja (Park Ji-young), and Geok-jung (Tae Hang-ho). I get where he is coming from but directing his anger to them while they are all working in the kitchen is not really helping in the restaurant’s operations. Who knows, it may have an effect on the food they prepare. Anyway, since Poong’s mean nature isn’t really new to us, I am not really surprised with the way he acted towards them.

But then, he eventually proved that he has the potential to change his rotten attitude with the way he apologized to Madame Jin (Lee Mi-sook). I don’t know if he apologized because he learned that he is Sae-woo’s mom, or he really needs him in the restaurant. Would he ask her to return to work if not for Sae-woo? Then again, who knows?

Also, as much as I hate betrayals, I can’t really blame Seol-ja and Geok-jung for wanting to leave Poong’s kitchen and apply at the Giant Hotel. After all, if it happens to you, would you not resign when you can’t deal with your annoying boss anymore? The only wrong thing in their ‘almost’ resignation was that they attempted to transfer to the very restaurant which evicted their boss. Talking about sense of propriety.

But I do like how Poong eventually accepted Sae-woo and her fam’s white lie. Poong may not know the real reason why they kept their identities secret, but the way he naturally told Sae-woo about this was just sweetly done, I like it.

Chil-sung’s new life vow

I was disappointed that we did not see the vet again! I thought we will see this ship sail sooner or later?!!! Anyway, Chil-sung (Jang Hyuk) has made himself another life vow – to clean Sae-woo’s dad’s name and eventually release him from jail while protecting his family.  If not for the presence of the love line between Poong and Sae-woo, this drama would really work as a standalone series on Chil-sung’s life.

Chil-sung sacrificed a huge amount of money to buy out the protest rights from the construction workers, which means he now has a fighting chance in taking down Giant Hotel. I love how Sae-woo’s dad President Dan trusted Chil-sung at first glance. He knew he was a good man even before he heard Chil-sung’s offer. He knew his daughter would be in good hands under Chil-sung’s protection. And now I realized, Chil-sung is too precious for Sae-woo, I don’t want him to end up liking a girl who rejected him twice.

Also, where the hell is Buster? Will we ever see him again?
